AI Regulation intensifies

Elon will love this one, lol, with new happenings in AI with ChatGPT lawmakers are beginning to tighten their seatbelts trying to understand how to regulate AI in a way it doesn’t stifle innovation.

bruuhhh I can only imagine being those lawmakers on one end just slowly trying to understand wtf web3 is and now BOOOM AI is here like regulate this, please. Should be fun!

EU is trying to pass the Artificial Intelligence Act (sounds fancyyy). Its aim is to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) systems placed on the EU market and used in the Union are safe and respect existing laws on fundamental rights and Union values.

The proposal follows a risk-based approach and lays down a uniform, horizontal legal framework for AI that aims to ensure legal certainty. It promotes investment and innovation in AI, enhances governance and effective enforcement of existing laws on fundamental rights and safety, and facilitates the development of a single market for AI applications.

Basically, the act will be centered around finding the balance between Centralizing the market for AI applications, keeping government control, and still not stifling innovating.

Uber Launches RoboTaxi in Las Vegas

well Uber literally is about to have no drivers as well, with the Launch of RoboTaxi a self driving taxi service in Las Vegas. The launch of the service was done in conjunction with Motional, the Hyundai-Aptiv joint venture focused on commercializing self-driving technology.

This actually not Motionals first time, they have launched similar services in LV with Lyft and Via Networks.

Also to add, you can’t literally go on an Uber RoboTaxi right now but according to Motional the public release would be “at a later date”.

AI listens to toilet sounds to guess whether people have diarrhea

wait…whaaaaatttt???

An artificial intelligence that can detect diarrhea with 98 percent accuracy from recordings of toilet sounds could help track outbreaks of diseases, such as cholera

So basically it has a Mic to listen to the sounds you, your tummy, and your poo make while you are doing your business then feeds that sound into an AI trained on, god knows what, 350 recordings of toilet-based sounds from YouTube and sound database Soundsnap – covering standard defecation, diarrhea, urination, and flatulence.

This fly on the wall was developed by Maia Gatlin at the Georgia Institute of Technology and her colleagues.
