Microsoft invests billions in OpenAI

 Microsoft's investment in OpenAI is so big, they must be trying to make sure their next round of layoffs is done by robots.

Microsoft has announced a multi-year, multibillion-dollar investment in AI as it extends its partnership with OpenAI. The Windows and Xbox maker plans up to 10,000 redundancies but said it would still hire in key strategic areas.

Microsoft said it was committed to "building AI systems and products that are trustworthy and safe". It would use OpenAI's technology across its consumer and enterprise products.

Earlier reports had suggested Microsoft was considering investing an additional $10BN in OpenAI, but the company did not put a figure on the scale of its investment.

ChatGPT is not revolutionary, Meta AI Chief

"In terms of underlying techniques, ChatGPT is not particularly innovative," said Yann LeCun, Meta's chief AI scientist, in a small gathering of press and executives on Zoom last week.

"It's nothing revolutionary, although that's the way it's perceived in the public," said LeCun. "It's just that, you know, it's well put together, it's nicely done."

Why hasn't the public seen programs like ChatGPT from Meta or from Google? "The answer is, Google and Meta both have a lot to lose by putting out systems that make stuff up," says Meta's chief AI scientist, Yann LeCun.

First AI "robot" lawyer will represent a defendant in court next month 

A "robot" lawyer powered by AI will be the first of its kind to help a defendant fight a traffic ticket in court next month. Joshua Browder, CEO of DoNotPay, said the company's AI-creation runs on a smartphone, listens to court arguments, and formulates responses for the defendant. The AI lawyer tells the defendant what to say in real-time, through headphones, and will take its first case on February 22.

Nvidia is using AI to detect insider security threats, let's hope it's not like that episode of Black Mirror where the AI becomes the threat

Nvidia has an artificial intelligence toolkit that constantly learns to keep up with the fast changes in the cyber security space.

The graphics chip maker is adding its Morpheus software development kit, which is targeted at cybersecurity, to its AI Enterprise 3.0, which was announced last month.

Morpheus uses many techniques to identify possible security problems in a computing infrastructure before they become major problems. The AI can track unusual behavior on a network that could result in systems getting compromised.

This option will affect all three options: ``--simplify``, ``--complicate`` and ``--revise``

If [OPTION] does not contain one of four options ``--simplify``, ``--complicate`` , ``--revise`` or ``expand``, the option ``--revise`` will be used.
