How I use ChatGPT as a Marketer With Prompt Explanations

There are like a million and one articles and Twitter threads talking about prompts and tools that’ll improve your marketing but no one ever says how they use these prompts, they just list them.

The goal of this article is to give about 3 ChatGPT prompts, how to use them, and in what scenarios. Hopefully, these prompts would become an essential part of your workflow.

Generate Marketing Copy

ChatGPT is great when it comes to writing copy, a great rule of thumb when deciding what to use ChatGPT for, is just to think of timeless information that there is a lot of on the Internet. Copywriting is one.

Essentially Marketing copy is “Persuasive Writing” so here’s a prompt to generate persuasive content from ChatGPT

Prompt:

I'm looking for a [Content type] that will clearly explain the features and benefits of my [product/service] to [ideal customer persona] and persuade them to make a purchase with a strong call-to-action.

Prompt Breakdown

[Content type]

What do you need? A Blog Post? A One-Liner? A One paragraph About? A promotional message? Specify which exactly you need.

[product/service]

As we all know ChatGPT data cut-off date is September 2021, so that means you shouldn’t just say the name of your product except if you’re doing this for Google or Microsoft.

For the best possible results, Give ChatGPT a full one-about page or at minimum give it a solid 2 sentences, that describe your product well. This will give ChatGPT a lot of contexts and just lead to dramatically better and more persuasive results.

[ideal customer persona]

You want to be as specific as possible here, make sure you highlight:

• The Profession of your ICP

• Where they normally hangout

Optional/if it applies to you

• Income

• Gender

• Location

• Education levels etc

The more specific the better ChatGPTs result, also this is just a good way for you to have more info about your ICP (outside ChatGPT).

Generate A Marketing Plan

I have a lot of prompts for creating a marketing plan using different frameworks and methodologies but For this example, we’ll be creating a marketing plan using the Lean Startup Methodology.

Here’s the prompt:
