Microsoft unveils VALL-E, their creepy AI that can mimic voices

Microsoft has published a paper on VALL-E, their new AI that can generate realistic impersonations of human speech based on just 3-second samples. It's a concerning development for voice actors, as well as anyone who could be duped into thinking they're on the phone with a relative who desperately needs their card details

It has been trained on 60 thousand hours of speech, "which is hundreds of times larger than existing systems." Still a long way from replacing voice actors, however.

DoNotPay will pay any lawyer or person $1,000,000 with an upcoming case in front of the United States Supreme Court to wear AirPods and let our robot lawyer argue the case by repeating exactly what it says. One little caveat is The Supreme Court bans any electronic devices from being present in the courtroom while Court is in session.

yeah, you heard that right, Microsoft is considering investing 10 freaking billion dollars in OpenAI! but the terms are something to note

Here are the terms:

- 75% of OpenAI profits would go to Microsoft until all $10 billion is paid back.- After, Microsoft would own a 49% stake in OpenAI.- Another 49% belongs to other investors, - 2% goes to OpenAI's nonprofit arm.

Was sipping my morning tea, while reading the news and scrolling through my email, after hitting the Iron Paradise, when I saw this:

Well there you have it, what do you think? by the way, I'm not here to spread a doomsday future for AI, I'm very much optimistic on the AI front. This is just something interesting to consider when building advanced AI, especially if AI already has the capacity to come up with things like this.
